FootGolf Turkey has been suspended until December 1st. They are banned from organizing any FIFG event in this period. The FIFG Board will evaluate the status of the organization again in December.
The FIFG Board decided to suspend the Türkiye FootGolf Dernegi, the official Turkish member of the FIFG until December 1st. There were several problems with FootGolf Turkey in the last three years, and FIFG got only promises and the problems were not solved. FootGolf Turkey has presented plans to the FIFG over the past three years about the development of FootGolf in Turkey and a way to solve some issues they are having, but their plan has been unsuccessful in moving the sport forward or solving these issues. “As a basically inactive country with little involvement in the FIFG we feel we need to suspend them so others may have a chance to develop the sport there. It was a hard decision and we all know, it is a historical moment somehow.” said Gábor Gelencsér, president of the FIFG. The leader of the international organization underlined: “We want to give them the opportunity to correct the problems and have given them a timeline and a review process to see if they will be able to go forward and accomplish the things they have promised.” The suspension ends December 1st, when the Board will evaluate the situation.
