Nahir Oyal, ex-professional football player and Julia Berglind Nilsson became the new Swedish champion in Malmö.
”I knew that I had a chance in the competition, even though the footgolfers were really good. When I have played focused, I felt, I could avoid the pressure on the last holes.” said the new champion, Nahir Oyal, who played earlier in the Swedish first division as a footballer. He admitted, when he put the football boots on the shelf in 2015, because the game's joy have been disappeared, he did not think he would come back in the competitive level with a ball and football shoes on. He fell in love with FootGolf and is going to continue his new career. - I love to win, so for me it is great to win the gold medal. I have won many divisions in Sweden, but never Allsvenskan in football. Among the ladies, Julia Berglind Nilsson – who had previously a bronze and a silver medal – became the new champion. ”I didn't expect this. It is fun to have a gold and show what I can do.” said Berglind Nilsson. The competition was played in tough conditions in high wind up to 13 meters per second. ”I used my time and waited for a few seconds before my kicks. I tried to time well and hit the ball, when the conditions seemed better.” For the first time, a team competition was also played. The team played single, four ball (best ball) and foursome format. Olandsbygdens team 2 (Julia Berglind Nilsson, Emma Adén, Yasmine Hollsten and Pernilla Nordgren) won in the women's category and Olandsbygdens gentlemen (Johan Mårtensson, Joacim Mårtensson, Henrik Söderlund, Simon Bruce and Robin Larsson) were the best among the men.
