After holding two stages at the same time (one in Norway and one in France) at the end of May, the European FootGolf Trophy Tour continues. In June there will be cup in Holland, Italy, Switzerland and Belgium. Next to Amsterdam more than one hundred players are going to continue the show.
Julian Kelkel (GER) is the leader of the EFTT after four rounds. There are seven nations in the top ten now. The next stop is in Holland, at golf course Spaarnwoude, close to the capital city of the Netherlands, Amsterdam. This course is a typical Dutch one with par 70. Jim Kuipers, Dutch player and organizer explained: “Shorter than most of the courses in the world. It is very technical, asks a lot of course-reading. Slopes, short grass, playing with the green, everything is in it. The ones with a good first shot aren't that much in advance. This is a course for everybody, and the player who is the most accurate in especially his approach and putts, wins.” There are 110 players from thirteen different countries. “We have 35 Dutch players, rest of the field are foreign players. We're quite happy with this amount of players, and we want them all to have the best weekend we could give them. But of course it is a lot of work to make a good program for more than hundred players. We're playing in flights of five footgolfers. It will be busy. But when everybody is focused on their own game and respect each other, it will be perfect to play.” Jim Kuipers said, they had a very extensive squad, who could compete with the rest of the world. “There are a lot of players who are able to win an event, especially in his own country. But there are a lot of good players on this tournament, so it will be very hard to win this one. The Dutch team consist of maybe five or six players who could possibly win, but unfortunately a lot of them are injured now. We'll see at the end of this weekend, of course I hope there is somebody from Holland to hold the biggest trophy of The Capital Cup on Sunday. He mentioned, that the upcoming World Cup is so far away. “Actually we are quite busy with the selection of the team who will represent the orange team in January next year. There are only two guys who already qualified themselves for the World Cup, Bjorn Bulk and myself. Of course I'm happy with that, proud to represent my small country. We need to train as a team, to improve our skills, kicks and mental game. The World Cup is in Argentina, probably the best FootGolf country in the world at this moment. I hope we, but not only the Dutch but every other country, are able to play at our highest level to make it the Argentine players as difficult as possible.” You can find all the results HERE.
