While footgolf is only ten years old in 2019, in many countries there are tournaments only for the kids. They are the bright future of their nations. The first world champion, Béla Lengyel helps to promote the youth in Hungary.
“There is at least one Junior Footgolf Cup in Hungary every year. That was the 7th time, when the youngsters delegated from mostly football clubs tried our sport.” said Gábor Gelencsér, President of the Hungarian Federation.
On 1st of May, there was a tournament for five ages under 18 years old near Budapest, Hungary with 88 players from 18 clubs.
“The course in Monor is perfect to fall in love in footgolf as a kid. Every hole is par 3, they are not too long but very challenging. There were five hole-in-ones and all the youngsters were happy to have a great day in our sport.” said Gábor Gelencsér.
Béla Lengyel is one of the organizers of the cup. As a futsal coach, he can reach the youth in Hungary and look after the potential champions.
Gábor Gelencsér added, “Béla and a lot of footgolfers help us during the junior tournaments to share their views and for example to show the perfect lines or the type of the kick for the children. We believe this is the way to reach the next level in FootGolf, start the grass root system, and make the kids happy.”
